15 minutes ago I arrived at home and I am now resting comfortably in my very own bed. Last night was a hard night at the hospital. Carl had gone home to be with the kids, and I decided to try and go the entire night without morphine. Not to mention a toddler had been admitted to the hospital, and every time I heard him cry it broke my heart. I still remember being with Noah in the hospital when he was 18 months old, and it is just so hard on them! My drug free endeavor didn't last long, though. By 5 am I was really, really hurting so the nurse gave me some morphine. By the way - I DO NOT LIKE MORPHINE! After they injected it into my IV I would feel burning sensations in different parts of my body, and the entire left side of my face felt like it was on fire. It also made it difficult to eat because it upset my tummy. And I can't even begin to describe how dizzy I was when I was on it! After that they gave me a different type of pain medication, but by this point we were playing catch up, and I was in pain for most of the day. When I finally started to feel better I realized that I was itching all over my body! I also developed a rash all over my face. They gave me Benadryl, but none of the nurses could figure out what was causing the rash or the itchiness. I'm itching and my face is red again, but I can't take any Benadryl for a couple more hours. YUCK!
Meanwhile, I want to tell everyone thank you so much for all of your prayers. They meant the world to me. And now, I think I shall try to go to sleep.
