Worst. Spring Break. Ever

This has been the worst Spring Break ever!

It started last Friday, with Grandparents Day at school.  The kids didn't have anyone who was able to come, and after talking about it as a family we finally decided to allow Nathanael and Noah to stay home from school because Carlye said, "That's the worst feeling ever when you are sitting there all by yourself and everybody else has somebody."  Unfortunately, I didn't take into account my boys deeply rooted sense of right and wrong.  They spent the ENTIRE day saying that they felt sick to their stomach's because they were missing school and they weren't even sick.  I told them that it was okay because Daddy and I gave them permission to do it, but that if it made them feel that badly we would NEVER do it again - and to stop worrying about it!

Then, because my foot is broken we weren't able to go camping, go to Enchanted Rock, the zoo, or do any of the fun things that we had talked about doing.

On top of everything, Sunday night Carl got really, really sick.  I've been married to him for almost 16 years and have seen him throw up twice.  Sunday night made 3.  He slept all day Monday, refused to eat on Tuesday, and was back to 'normal' yesterday.  (side note - this is a truly horrible 'plague'.  We know of 3 families that it has gone through and it is merciless!)  Carlye went to Fiesta Texas on Monday with her some of her friends.  She got car sick on the way down there, had a hard time at FT because once your sick, roller coasters don't make anything better, and she too refused to eat all day Tuesday.

The best part of our week was going to be today.  We were supposed to go to San Antonio and see Annemarie, Julianna, Jared, Thomas, Aunt Marianne and Uncle Frank.  Everyone was finally well, we were going to watch Oz on Imax in 3D, and have a fun evening.

Last night Nathanael started throwing up.

And come to think of it, I don't know if my tummy is feeling all that great either.

Boo.

Seriously.  Worst Spring Break ever.

Chapter 3

Chapter 3 (part one)

David woke up.  Their standing right in front of him was the man.  The one that caused all this.  He held a gun in one hand and his horse rains in the other.  Get up the man said.  David slowly stood.  Wham!  Someone or thing ran into the man.  He fell over.  as he watched a man ran over and said, "Get out of here. This could get bad.  Go to the village and wait for me."  David did as he was told and late that nite he came.  David didn't see him till he was right in front of him.  He said David had to come with him and off they went.  When they got to the man's house, David's horse was put in the barn and he was led inside.  There he was told to go upstairs and sleep.  David slept long and hard that night, and when he woke up he was still tired.

Rrrrg.  Rrrrg.  Suddnly David woke up.  Startled by the sound.  He looks around then realizes it was just a tracter.  Then he sat up and made breakfast.  He ate the apples he had gotten the night before, and then peeked out the trees.  There was people everywhere.  Picking apples, oranges and cotten.  Then someone shouted, "Somebody's picked my apples."  David held his breath.  He needed to get away.  Soon he was packed up and reddy to ride when he heard it. A search party checking for theefs.  David jumped on his horse and rode off.  He knew they heard him becase he could hear them chaseing him.  Then one fired a gun.  David started to panick.  He turned left and kept going.  Soon he had goten far ahead of them.  After a while of rideing David stoped to have lunch.  He gave his horse oats, and then ate a apple.  The apple was cold and fulle of juice.  Once he was done he sat back and thought.  Should I go around this place or turn back.  The thought made him shudder.  He couldn't imagine going back.  I wonder if he's still following me.  David said aloud.  Startled by his voice David's horse came to him. It's okay he said.  Soon his horse fell asleep.  With his horse next to him David was soon asleep too.

Chapter 2

Suddenly he woke up.  He had slept a little to long, and needed to catch up.  He made breakfeast and thought about his plans for that day.  Soon  he decided he would find a town, and restock on foods.  Then he packed up and set out for town.  After a while he found a tradeing post.  Not what he wanted, but it would do.  He found some geese and shot them.  Then he went to town to trade them.  Although he got a little meat, he got a lot of vegtible.  When he was done he packed it up and left.  He wasn't sure were he was going, but he didn't stop.  After a while he came across another river.  The river was big, so he couldn't get across it.  Then he decided he would turn and go right.  Suddenly he came into a clearing full of farmers.  He decided that he would camp in the forest, and at night sneak apples and pairs.  The only problem was the animals.  Eventuly he got an Idea.  When night fell David led his horse out, hidding behind it.  Once he reached a tree he picked apples.  Then he snuck back to camp and fell to sleep.

Chapter 1 continued

Chapter 1 (part 2)

Finally he had to stop for the night.  He cooked a stew and set up camp.  After he finished eating he rapped himself in blankets then went to sleep.  When he woke up he set out again.  He had been ridding for only a couple of minutes when he ran across a stream.  The stream had a strong currant and was full of fish.  David hopped of his horse and filled his canteen.  After that he cought some fish and put them away for dinner.  He then pressed on.  His goal for that day was to get past the forest and find new land.  He started on then a new thought struck him.  What if he was being tracked?  That woryed him and he didn't want it to be true, so he covered his tracks best he could.  Suddenly, he herd somebody behind him.  David started to panick he urged his horse forward.  He started to get away.  Then he remembered the gun.  A idea formed in his mind.  he grabbed the riffle and shot it.  The person behind him stopped not sertant that he should go on.  David took this time to get away.  he rode on that whole day not sure if he should stop or not.  Then finally he had too.  He cooked fish and rested.  Soon he was sound asleep.

Chapter 1

Nathanael has decided that he likes writing.  He's been working on a short story at home, and brought me the first few pages to look over.  I thought that it was so sweet I wanted to share it with you all, and I left it exactly as he wrote it, without any corrections.

Chapter 1 (part 1)

One summer morning a boy went out to feed his horse.  The boy's name was David, and he had only a horse.  He lived alone and had not friends.  As he fed his horse he did not notice the man that walked up.  That is a fine horse, said the man.  Startled by the voice David jumped back.  How did you find me?  He asked the man.  That's not important, but what is important is the fact that I want to buy your horse.  He's mine, David snapped, and you can't have him.  Then I'll tell the orfanage you're here.   David was speech less.  I'lll give you tell tomorrow to change your mind.  With that he walked away.  During lunch David thaught about what the man had said.  Maybe I can run away, and that's exactly what  he did.  First, he packed his food, blankets and his fathers riffle.  He had goten the riffle when his father died.  It was the only thing left to remind him of them.  That is whey he will always tresure it.  Then he got rid of all the signs he had been there, hoped on his horse and rode into the brush.  As he galuped through the brush he noticed how much wild life there was.  Squrles, birds and other creatures jumped and scuried away as he rode forward.
